Earthly Vibes (Back from the Wild)

Happy Friday, my Earthly Vibes family. I’m happy to be back, I had such a wonderful time camping and being out in nature. My batteries are fully recharged and I’m ready for another vacation who am I kidding. But can you blame me? Don’t get me wrong, I like the city life, it’s okay, but to me, nothing compares to the music of the river, the cool breeze from the wind, and the natural lighting of the sun. I mean why pay for rock climbing, when you can go outside and climb rocks? I must have been a lumberjack in a previous life, but I can’t be the only one. So today I am giving 3 reasons how being out in nature can benefit you.

  1. Healing Waters

Running water such as rivers, oceans, and waterfalls release negative ions into the air. Don’t be afraid of the word negative, these types are ions are proven to do the opposite. Negative ions are known to improve your mood, senses, sex drive, appetite and more. It is known to relieve stress and promote alpha brain waves which can result in higher awareness. Negative ions also help stimulate the reticuloendothelial system which helps to defend against diseases and strengthens the immune system. These kinds of ions can also be found in fresh country air, not in cities. I wonder why (if you couldn’t tell, that was sarcasm). So next time you have a brain fart or want a bust to your immune system, just stand next to a waterfall, crazy right!

  1. Time Control

While on my hippie retreat, I was surprised to find that my cabin didn’t have any wifi or a TV. To your average Millennial this would be a nightmare, but I couldn’t have been happier. Without basic technology, there was no reason for me to check my phone, emails, or tweets (sorry, twitter family). I felt so at peace, so much so I lost all concept of time. Without modern-day distractions, I could fully unwind and be in the now. I think, adults we associate time with triggers and stressors. For example, when you’re having a difficult day at work time seems to drag on forever. But when you’re out partying and having fun, time tends to speed up and pass too fast. But when you’re in nature, there are no deadlines, no bills, or chores to do. There’s just life and time seems to move around you. Some people refer to this as enlightenment, which can be achieved the same way through meditation (doesn’t sound so crazy now does it).

  1. Resources

  2. nature has an abundance of resources such as fresh water, food, etc… I was fortunate enough to get a cabin right on a river bank, which meant plenty of fish and fresh herbs. Edible mushrooms hid, tucked away in tree trunks while wild life ran free around me, carefree. If not for the sudden craving for chocolate and snacks, I would’ve lived completely off the land. But hey, I’m not perfect and I got a bunch of peanut cluster in the end, so who’s the real winner here?

Hope this has inspired you to go on your own hippie retreat, but if you lack the time or means to go you can always visit your local nature park. Here comes the disclaimers, make sure to do your research before going out of town, find a place the suits you best and the experience you are trying to have. Do not eat any wild plants/animals without proper knowledge. And always have an emergency contact and supplies ready. There should be no rush, judgment, or pressure when going green it should be at your own pace to fit your lifestyle. I am just here to give you the information and tools to do so. Thanks for tuning in and remember, there is nothing wrong with going green!
