Earthly Vibes (The Last Shipment)

Good afternoon and welcome back to earthly vibes, and this week it’s story time. So sit back relax, and let your mind go on this twisted ride.

It was 3’o clock in the morning and I was tired as hell. It had been a long night, bouncing idiots out of the the club. Some dumbass even threw up on my shirt, I don’t get paid enough to deal with this shit. That’s why I have the perfect side hustle. After my shift at the Fuzzy Kitten, I would drop off “shipments” for this mob boss named Carlos. He called me a few days ago and told me that he had 2lbs of heroine, come up guaranteed, but not enough clientele. Being that I was his best distributor, he fronted it to me, knowing I would be able to flip it, fast. His shit was always easy to get off, and working at the club as a bouncer was the perfect cover for late night dealing and networking. Rich people sure like to get high. And tonight I sold out, after putting a tax on the last bit of merchandise, I came out with 25 thousand. Not bad, I had to call Carlos to let him know things went well. That’s one thing I learned about the drug game, never keep a person wondering about their money. But all this would be temporary, with this score I had finally saved up enough money to get the fuck out of Chicago and stay away for good. No more liquor stores on every corner, no more crackheads sucking dick in the allies for hits, and no more selling drug to make ends meet. After tonight I was done with it all, well almost.

Carlos picked up on the first ring, “ What’s up Jasin, haven’t heard from you in a while.” His Cuban accent thick and raspy.

“ Nigga shut up, it’s only been three days.”

“ Then why are you calling me?”

“What the fuck do you think, I’m calling you for. I’m out, shit’s done and I’m on my way to you.”

“Great! I knew that I could trust you. I have another shipment coming in tomorrow. I’ll have twice as much.”

“Carlos I told you, after this, I’m out.”

“That’s right I forgot.” He laughed.

“Well remember next time motherfucka, or I’ll forget the security code to the online account where I already transferred a large portion of your money. You’ll get the rest in cash, so no funny shit, understand.”

“No funny shit, just good business. As always Jasin, it’s been nice doing business with you. If you ever change your mind, you know how to reach me.”

“ I’ll keep that in mind, I’ll leave the bag with Rico, be there in 10.”

It was almost over. All I had to do was walk to the car and drive off. Now I see why people say, ‘Almost isn’t good enough’. Before I could touch the door handle, something struck me hard in the back of the head. On impulse, I aimed my 22 revolver, trying hard to center my vision, but when I turned around there was no one there. I felt the back of my head and was shocked to see blood on my fingertips.

“So I wasn’t trippin, I did get hit with something.” I fired a few shots in the air to let whoever know that I wasn’t fucking around. I picked up the bag full of money and started for the car once more, and that’s when things got worse. I was soon surrounded by a group of brown hooded figures. One kicked the gun out of my hand, while another swung a golden spear at my head. This time I ducked low, fast enough to uppercut whatever it was, in the gut. My victory was short-lived as five more rushed me, beating me to the ground. I tried to shield myself from their kicks and stabs, but they were coming at me too fast.

“What the fuck do you want!” I screamed at them, hoping they would take a break from beating my ass to answer the question. Instead, they continued to claw and beat away at my flesh. This was the moment that I knew I was going to die. The drug game had finally got me caught up.

Just before I slipped out of consciousness, one of the hooded figures snapped their fingers, commanding the others to stop. I took my first minute without pain to catch my breath, but even that had come to be unbearable. I could feel my rib poking through my skin, as my nose ran thick with blood. I used my tongue to poke the gum where some of my teeth used to be. Pieces of my dreads laid scattered on the sidewalk next to by the bag of money.

“ If they’re not after the money, then what are they really after? I thought.

“You better kill, because if I find you, I’m going to to fuck you up.” I spat.

The leader of the hooded figure knelt down close, and placed a note card at my broken ankle.

“Looking forward to it.” It said in a low whisper, with those last words they disappeared just as quickly as they had came. I reached for the devil’s note, coughing up blood the more I stretched. But beofre I could read it, everything went dark.

To be continued………
