When writing, authors or even bloggers enjoy the inspiration of music aside from the topic to be their muse. But what we wonder often is can the musical mood assist in actual novels? We were able to ask our Co-Founder and Author, Omega her take on incorporating music while writing her upcoming and previous novels and what themes are helpful for the genre she is writing in.
"When writing 'The Unusuals' my characters responded really well to savage like music, with it being about three AWOL soldiers it kind of helped me get inside their heads and set the scene. Music isn't necessarily something everyone needs but it is something that I personally find helpful."
While a dated and aggressive book like 'The Unusuals: The Rebellion' takes a more savage approach on themes, there are a lot of authors in the science fiction area or even the romance department who are unsure on what theme fits best for their story.
"Well yes," Omega continued. "But what is so amazing about music is it's exactly like books in the sense of making what you want out of it, finding the right sound you want to write along to is entirely up to you. You can listen to something more classical like I did while writing 'Yours Truly' since it was a book dated in the late 1800's in London or a futuristic sound with a lot of synths and keyboards for sci-fi books. It all depends on what the character and you respond to." The key is what is working for the ear, the brain, and the characters. As long as it all plays together well on paper then, like music it makes a perfect harmony.
